Welcome to the Children's Christian Education Site for the Episcopal Church of the Advent.     We Offer: Sunday School Children's Chapel Nursery Baptism First Communion       The Sunday School Program runs from 10:10-10:50 a.m., sandwiched between the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.  Children are allowed to exit for classes after the singing of the last hymn at the 9:00 service.  There are classes from 3 years old through high school.   Sunday School is calling all teachers!   The “R” Word It’s Spring and our thoughts are turned to the “R” word. Rabbits, Rogation, Rebirth, Rhododendron? None of the above. Try Recruitment!   I thought I’d throw the R word out while you’re still feeling heady from the smell of the hyacinths, freesia and lily-of-the-valley. Sunday School teacher recruitment is under way, and I expect to have all classes staffed by the end of May. I can field questions every Sunday morning or you can call me during the week. I will also be available on May 4th during the Ministry Fair.   Class composition will be determined by the number of teachers we have on May 31st. The curriculum will be ordered in June so that teachers and classrooms can be prepped and ready for September.   Too early, you say? No excuse for not having time to think and pray about it. The fact is that no one makes decisions in June, July or August. I can’t give you any money, but I can assure you that you will be blessed many times over, and have coffee most weeks!   Kathy Prible, Director Christian Education for Children     Sunday School Registration:    Be sure to register all children and youth, including babies in the nursery, on Sunday, Sept. 7th at the Welcome Back Picnic. Your whole family can be registered on one sheet. Complete information is crucial to providing teachers and materials for all classes. Filing a complete registration form also helps us update your family information in our data base. It is preferable to have everyone registered before classes begin on Sept. 14th.  Children's Ministries:  Be sure to check out these opportunities available for children and youth: acolytes (4th grade and older), youth choir (2nd grade and older), and Children's Chapel Choir (ages 4 through 1st grade).  Look for more information and how to participate in these activities in the Ministries for Children Brochure, Chronicle and bulletin articles, and the web site.  Don't forget that you can schedule carpools for these activities also!
